Maureen Denise McCormick, the sole daughter of Richard McCormick and Irene McCormick, was born in Woodland Hills California on 5 August 1956. Her father worked as a school teacher and her mother as an at-home mom. Michael Dennis Kevin is her three elder siblings. McCormick was an accomplished entertainer and singer at the age of 6. She would put on shows with puppets for the neighbors. Her rise to fame as a fairytale began when she took home the Baby Miss San Fernando Valley contest in the age group of 6. This led to a call from an agent for talent Pat Domigan of the Jack Wormser Agency who inquired whether she wanted to enter the show industry. McCormick was hired to star in her first big role in 1964 in the tv spot for Mattels most recent doll, Baby Pattaburp. The following year she appeared in another commercial for the companys Chatty Cathy doll and was shortly cast in the musical Wind It Up And It breaks at the La Jolla Playhouse. The Brady Bunch McCormick won the 1969 audition of more than 1200 children to become the oldest of the three twins on the TV program The Brady Bunch, starring Florence Henderson as a newlywed with Robert Reed. The show ran for five seasons. McCormick's autobiography Heres the Story, Surviving Marcia Brady: Finding My True Voice was published in 2008. The book revealed that McCormick almost lost her virginity on the sets of the show in the fifth season when it was played by Barry Williams. The actress was just 16 years older and the actor aged 19 at that moment. It was likely that we would have a romantic relationship, said she. The timing, however, wasn't right.
