Maureen Denise McCormick, the sole child from Richard McCormick, and Irene McCormick, was born in Woodland Hills California on 5 August 1956. Her father taught at school, as did her mother, who was a domestic worker. Michael Dennis Kevin, her twin brothers. McCormick started singing and performing in the early years of her life. She was crowned her first contest, the Baby Miss San Fernando Valley Contest at age 6 and was contacted via Pat Domigan, a talent agent with the Jack Wormser Agency. She did another commercial in 1964, for the Mattels Chatty Cathy toy and soon was chosen to play the leading character on the play Wind It Up and It breaks, a production in the La Jolla Playhouse. The Brady Bunch McCormick auditioned for the part of the eldest daughter of the trio of towheaded girls on The Brady Bunch. The show starred Florence Henderson, Robert Reed and a new blended family. The show ran for five years. McCormick's memoir Heres the Story, Surviving Marcia Brady: Finding My True Voice was published in the year 2008. The book revealed the fact that McCormick almost lost her virginity on sets of the show in its fifth season to Barry Williams. At the time, she was 16, and he was 19. It could have been as she describes. However, the timing for our marriage was not the right one.
